Reception 2024

Welcome to Oatlands School

A message from Mrs Mooney

Welcome! I have had the privilege of being Head Teacher of Oatlands School for five years now. Prior to this I taught and held various leadership roles in South London Schools. I am very much part of the local community and I love to spend time with friends and family. I won’t claim to have any sporting achievements as keeping fit is a very inconsistent part of my life but I do laugh a lot.

Never before have I worked in such a positive and supportive school community. Our staff are exceptional and never fail to go above and beyond in making the learning experience for our children fun and engaging. Our environment is a happy and safe one where children learn to be confident and independent young people.

We had our last Ofsted inspection in 2010, when the school was judged ‘Outstanding’. I truly believe that this is still very much the case. As a staff we are forward thinking and work collaboratively to make sure that we are always doing what is right for each cohort of children who come into our school.

One of the many delights of working in an infant school is seeing the huge amount of progress that the children make in the three years that they are with us. Savour every moment, as before you know it they will be in Year 2!

In order for your child be the best they can be we ask that you work with us from the moment you join the school. This will mean engaging with home school learning, coming into our family workshops, curriculum evenings and being a proactive part of our PTA. It may sound cheesy but we really are the ‘Oatlands family’.

I look forward to getting to know you and your children. Welcome to the Oatlands family.

A Message from Miss Lawford

Welcome to Oatlands School.  I am the EYFS lead at Oatlands School and the class teacher in Ladybird Class.

EYFS is the Early Years Foundation Stage of education which is the set of standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. As your child will have their 5th birthday while they are in Reception at Oatlands, they will complete their EYFS years with us and we will then manage their transition to Key Stage 1 (KS1) which takes them through their remaining infant years at Oatlands.  As EYFS lead, I am responsible for managing and evaluating the delivery of high quality teaching and learning in the Early Years across the 7 EYFS learning and development areas.

Along with Miss Rolfe (Butterfly Class) and Miss May (Bumblebee Class) my priority is to ensure that your child enjoys their learning adventure at Oatlands school and most importantly has fun and makes lots of new friends along the way.  Please have a good look at the 'Exploring Reception' and 'Reception Gallery' pages using the links below for some videos and photographs of the reception team and our learning environment.  We can't wait to meet you and are really excited to start this learning journey with you all, let the fun begin!
